I remember Tony from first and second grade at Chestnutwold. For some reason that was never clear to me, he came and went periodically as a member of our class several times during those years. He was the only person in our school who used crutches or a wheelchair, and despite the general tendency of kids in our school to tease one another, Tony was never the target of such teasing. Perhaps one of the reasons was that he was a person of such unfailing good cheer and tremendous dignity, even as a 6-year old.
