Rick Chalmers

Richard Martin Chalmers, III Age 73.

Died Monday, July 19, 2021 with loved ones beside him. He grew up in Havertown, PA and graduated Class of 1965 from Haverford High School. He was a Marine Corp Veteran serving in the reserve unit during the Vietnam War completing a 10 year tour. He retired from Peco Energy ( Exelon) in 2008 after 40 + years of service and moved from Malvern, PA to Ocean City where he had invested in the 70’s and had been travelling to on weekends. Rick owned Bert’s Beach Rentals in Ocean City which he partnering and purchased with young Bert Eggly in 1979 and until Bert’s retirement in 2000, when he began running the business with his wife and son. Rick spent countless hours listening to his favorite, Conservative radio talk show hosts and until his recent illness riding the boards and “shooting the breeze.” Over the years he restored and renovated a number of old houses a lifetime passion. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynne and son, Britt of Ocean City. Also surviving are his sister, Jayne Alexander( Gerald) of West Chester, PA, sister-in-law, Jayne Doherty of EHT, his niece, Laurie Whiteman(Kevin) and nephew, Scott Alexander (Alyssa) both of Downingtown, PA , his niece, Vicky Kelchner, EHT and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard M. Chalmers, Jr. and Mildred Smithson Chalmers of Havertown. Rick lived a simple life. He lived by the motto “early to bed- early to rise”.      Rick was always a guy with a smile; always in a good mood. Very simply, he was a good guy. Thoughts and prayers for him and his family. He will be greatly missed.
