I remember Buddy very well. Another member of the fine trumpet section we had in band and orchestra. We had a long conversation at the 10th reunion so many years ago. So sorry to see this. Buddy was a really good guy.
Buddy Shafer was a great friend during junior and senior HH years, and we did a lot together, both in and out of school. We were each in band and orchestra, and shared the same Philadelphia.Orchestra teacher. Haverford, as we know, had a great music program.Early.on, we got together after school , and rode bikes all over creation, hanging out at his.House or Manoa shopping center. He would go into.Murphy's , buy and unwrap a pack of Crystal mint lifrsavers, then jam the whole thing into his mouth,.laughing the whole time. Later on, we each got our licenses, and first cars, which led.to going together on double dates, pool parties etc.Our paths diverged as we each left for college and respective careers I didn't see.him again till just after our 40th reunion, when Norm Manno arranged a meet up in West Chester.. We stayed in touch after that, exchanging visits from Coatesville.to.Lansdowne., and forays to collector car shows, and his drag racing........Anyone who knew him was aware of how funny he could be, with his signature "heh..heh..heh..heh laugh. He was a great guy to know and be around, and am sorry for his loss.
So sad to hear of Buddy's passing. I remember him from Band. He was a very talented trumpet player and had a great sense of humor. Condolences to his family.
