David and I were classmates at Oakmont School in 5th grade (Betsy Acheson was the teacher; our class was the first class she ever taught as an elementary teacher.) I can remember in opening ceremonies one morning where David was taking a part, and he said, "And now we will sing 'The Star-Spangled Banana." We all got a good laugh out of his slip of the tongue. Speaking here as a horticulturist, that's not so far off really, inasmuch as bananas as they ripen do have black or brown "stars" on their skin.--Bob Purvis, '65

David's dad confirmed me and performed the ceremony when Tom Steele and I got married in 1966 at Trinity Lutheran on West Chester pike where he was pastor.  So sorry to hear David is gone.

Yes, Linda, I believe we were in the same confirmation class at Trinity Lutheran that year.  I recall coming across that photo of our class recently.  I'll try to post it if I can find it again.  I do remember Pastor Fritsch well and David.  So sorry to learn of his passing.
